Nottingham Forest fans are all saying the same thing after Sky Sports release statement about Gary Neville’s comments

Nottingham Forest have now been issued an apology from Sky Sports following comments made about the club last season.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side were forced into making a statement following their defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

VAR decisions tarred the game for Forest with Stuart Attwell coming under scrutiny by the club over three key incidents.

And that statement by the Reds saw Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville hit out at Forest slamming club advisor Mark Clattenburg suggesting he had to resign.

Months on, Sky have now released their own statement apologising to the club for the comments made by Neville.

What Gary Neville said about Nottingham Forest after Everton defeat

In the midst of a relegation battle, Forest tasted defeat to the Toffees in controversial fashion having been denied three big decisions by the referee.

Having released their statement, Neville hit back by saying the following on Sky Sports.

“It’s like a mafia gang statement. I mean, honestly, what the hell are they playing at.”

“It’s like a petulant child, it’s embarrassing. And some of those things they’re saying in there, the suggestion of some sort of inferring of cheating because there’s an official in VAR in Stockley Park who’s a Luton fan is a scandal, and they will pay for that.”

Sky Sports apologise for Gary Neville’s Nottingham Forest rant

Now, Forest have been offered an apology from Sky who have admitted they’ve discussed the matter with Neville.

‘Sky Sports have discussed with Gary the language used and its potential to cause offence,’ the statement read.

‘Gary has agreed not to use the same or similar terms in future coverage. Sky Sports apologises to Nottingham Forest for any offence caused by this language.’

What Forest fans have said in response to Sky Sports’ statement

Naturally, this has seen an instant reaction from Forest fans who have shared their very honest thoughts on the statement released by Sky.

And they have all been left saying the same thing when it comes to Neville’s lack of involvement in the actual statement from Sky.

One Forest fan on X said, ‘Too right as well, I bet he wouldn’t have said it if Marinakas was American like his ‘beloved’ United’. Whilst another one added, ‘Not accepting it, Neville should be removed’.

Clearly, Forest fans wanted to hear from Neville, one said, ‘I would prefer him to apologise thanks’. With another Red also adding, ‘Should be Gary Neville apologising as well as Sky!!’

The statement drew a big response with another fan saying, ‘The boss is piling on the pressure me thinks’ as another simply said, ‘Should be an apology from him as well as Sky ..’.

Given the reaction this has seen, it will be interesting to see whether Neville does come out and provide his own response.
