Nottingham Forest are working hard to put some plans into place for the new season both on and off the field of play.

On the pitch, Elliot Anderson has signed from Newcastle, with Eric da Silva Moreira also checking in at the City Ground.

Away from it, it was reported at the weekend that Miran Pavlin will be appointed as a technical director at Forest next week.

Now, Nuno Espirito Santo could be about to have another void to fill within his backroom team.

Steve Cooper took over at Leicester three weeks ago and now, it would appear he’s about to return to Forest to pinch one of the backroom team.

Steve Cooper to poach backroom member from Nottingham Forest

Much like Forest, Leicester have returned from their holidays to commence pre-season training today.

As a result, it’s been announced by John Percy in The Telegraph that Alan Tate and goalkeeping coach Danny Alcock have joined Cooper at Leicester.

There is a missing piece of his jigsaw at the King Power Stadium, however, and he’s now set to return to Forest to bolster his staffing numbers.

Steve Rands is the Head of Performance at Forest and now he’s going to be heading to Leicester to reunite with Cooper.

All is not lost for Forest though as they will receive compensation for Rands and they might have already replaced him.

Last month, it was announced that Francisco Belo had left Wolves to join Forest as a Head of Data Insights.

Although not entirely the same role as what Rands does, perhaps this is viewed by the club as his replacement to a certain degree.

No surprise that Cooper has raided Forest for coach

This is basically football in a nutshell. Cooper has got a new job and as is usually the case, he wants his own people working alongside him.

Rands was taken to Forest by Cooper and ultimately, he’s one of Cooper’s trusted lieutenants.

Espirito Santo is unlikely to be fazed by this and he must have been aware that if Cooper came back into football he might raid Forest for some of his backroom team.

Forest have some work to do in order to plug some gaps on the field and that will be a bigger priority for Espirito Santo rather than any of his backroom leaving the club.
