Nottingham Forest are officially back. Yesterday, the Reds won 3-0 at Chesterfield with domestic football back on the radar for the supporters.

England might have Spain to play in the Euro 2024 final this evening but it feels as though people are ready to start gearing up for the new Premier League campaign.

Forest won yesterday courtesy of goals from Chris Wood, Josh Bowler and Ibrahim Sangare as the League Two outfit were put to the sword.

After the game, Nuno Espirito Santo admitted that he’d like to sign a few new players – although hinted that quality over quantity was the order of the day.

Now, an intriguing claim has been made by a transfer guru and it offers hope that Forest are in the mix to sign a very useful footballer.

Fabrizio Romano delivers update on Nottingham Forest transfer

One player who is on the radar of the City Ground-based club is Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic – and things are heating up.

Fabrizio Romano has now delivered an exciting update on the Forest linked to the Serbia defender and he could be on the move this summer.

The Reds have now made a first bid to sign the centre-back who played in all three of his country’s games at Euro 2024.

Romano posted on X: “Nottingham Forest official proposal for Nikola Milenkovic has already been sent to Fiorentina.

“Negotiations are underway, not an easy deal but Forest are pushing to reach an agreement.”

Milenkovic, 26, has made 264 appearances for Fiorentina and has helped them reach the last two Conference League finals but has been beaten in both.

Milenkovic could be very good signing for Forest

It’s fair to say that the Reds do need another central defender before the season gets started properly.

Joe Worrall was handed a start at Chesterfield yesterday but it does feel as though he will be leaving the club this summer.

Murillo, Andrew Omobamidele and Willy Boly are in the Forest ranks at present but another option is definitely going to be sought.

Milenkovic typically operates on the right and that could see him for a nice partnership with Murillo once the season gets underway.

At 26, he’s another player linked with Forest with a nice profile and if the Reds can strike a deal it would be a signing with some intent attached to it.

It’s somewhat annoying that this isn’t an easy deal to do but hopefully, the club can work their magic and get Milenkovic to Forest.
