Nottingham Forest and Wolves are set to do battle for a player who is currently available on a free transfer.

The Reds will hope to compete for a similar spot in the Premier League as Wolves next season after avoiding relegation.

Now, Nuno Espirito Santo hopes to lift Forest into the higher echelons of the divisions and avoid a relegation dogfight.

Forest have to make sure they get the balance of their squad right and some more firepower would certainly be useful.

Now, it’s emerged that the club is battling to sign a free agent in the coming weeks as he looks to sign for a new team.

Nottingham Forest and Wolves still fighting for Che Adams

The Reds would like to add some more firepower to the squad and Scotland international Adams is on the radar.

Forest need to ensure they’re well stocked with Chris Wood now 32 and Taiwo Awoniyi battling his injury demons.

In yesterday’s Sunday Mirror it was claimed that Forest and Wolves are both trying to tempt Adams into signing fo them.

The 27-year-old is hoping to get hooked up with a club soon after leaving Southampton at the end of last season.

A versatile forward, Adams scored 17 goals and claimed six assists last season as the Saints beat Leeds in the play-off final to return to the Premier League.

A new contract was rejected by the player, however, and now he’s going in search of a new club.

Adams could be useful squad player for Forest

The player started all three games for Scotland at Euro 2024 as the Tartan Army bowed out with nothing other than a whimper.

Ally McCoist is a huge fan of the player and called him ‘terrific’ after his exploits in qualifying for Scotland.

Adams might prove a somewhat underwhelming signing in the eyes of some supporters but he could help Forest.

At 27, he’s hardly over the hill and he’s unlikely to cost Forest a great deal in the way of wages either.

Adams can play in a number of positions in the final third and it’s fair to say he’d be a more useful option in attack than Divock Origi was last season.

The fact Wolves want him could make life tricky but hopefully Forest can use their persuasive powers to get this one over the line.
