It’s been a busy day at Nottingham Forest for both the senior ranks and the academy, with signings being made across the board.
The first team have this afternoon landed Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina to end days of speculation surrounding the centre-back.
The academy don’t want to be overshadowed, however, and have actually announced an intriguing signing of their own.
Shae Cahill has checked in after leaving Brisbane Road and he is the son of former Everton and Australia star Tim Cahill.
The central midfielder has penned a contract with Forest and has now joined his new teammates on their pre-season tour of Spain.
It would appear that his dad, Tim, is pleased that his son has joined a club like Forest, with Adlene Guedioura and Jamie Redknapp reacting to the transfer.
Tim Cahill reacts as Nottingham Forest sign Shae Cahill
The former Everton star is a bit of a legend at Goodison Park and during his time on Merseyside, he made 278 appearances, scoring 68 goals.
Now, his son is aiming to follow in his footsteps and the teenager will have a chance to stake a claim for his place at Forest via the B-Team.
Following his son’s arrival on Trentside, Cahill posted on Instagram: “Congratulations @shaeloucahill. We are all so proud of you and enjoy this next chapter.”
Cahill was on the books at Everton and made 13 appearances for their under-18 outfit before signing for Brisbane Roar.
During his time with the A-League outfit, he made two appearances for the first time but has now chosen to sign for Forest.
Cahill’s messages of support didn’t stop with his dad as Adlene Guedioura and Jamie Redknapp also posted on Instagram.
Former Reds midfielder Guedioura said: “Welcome to the world famous City Ground, all the best @shaeloucahill, congratulations. You Reds!”
Redknapp kept things short and sweet and simply posted a couple of applause emojis.

Academy looking stronger than ever at Forest
Cahill has also taken to X to post a congratulations message to his son, which reads: “Congratulations my man.”
He’s clearly beaming with pride that Shaw has been hooked up with a club as reputable as Forest.
This is the sort of signing that Forest fans should grow to expect as a Category One academy and it will be fascinating to see how he now performs.
Cahill will join a B-Team that did largely alright in the Premier League 2 campaign last season and he will bolster Warren Joyce’s squad.
The teenager has joined a club where the pathway to first-team stardom is typically clear and now he will hope to make a claim for a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s future plans.
