Jose Mourinho has placed a Nottingham Forest midfielder on a three-man shortlist to fill the final void in his Fenerbahce team this summer.

The manager who has enjoyed a colourful career is keen to strengthen his squad and is looking towards England – a country he knows well – for reinforcements.

Forest are busy trying to strengthen their own ranks this summer – and they won’t want to lose anyone who is viewed as important ahead of next season.

Now, Mourinho is looking towards Forest as a club that might be able to help him land a midfield enforcer that he’s desperately craving.

Jose Mourinho places Ibrahim Sangare on transfer shortlist

This news comes from A Spor in Turkey and given that it’s a Turkish report it does need to be taken with a large pinch of salt.

Sangare is on the shortlist of Fenerbahce along with Burnley midfielder Sander Berge and Crystal Palace star Jefferson Lerma.

The Ivorian signed for the Reds from PSV on transfer deadline day last summer for a club record £30 million transfer fee.

Given that he didn’t undergo a proper pre-season with the Reds, he struggled in the Premier League.

He returned from the African Cup of Nations with an illness that saw him lose a lot of weight and fail to make his mark on the Premier League.

During pre-season so far, however, he’s looked like a different player and has done well against Chesterfield and Sunderland.

It’s been claimed on X by a Turkish journalist known as Ork, that Sangare is the subject of a £12 million bid with another £2 million in the way of add-ons.

Frankly – if that is true – the Reds will surely laugh that bid straight out of the boardroom.

Forest should keep Sangare this summer

During his time at PSV, Sangare was called ‘unstoppable by Roger Schmidt who was the player’s manager for some time in Holland.

Although Sangare wasn’t great during his maiden campaign in England, he had a lot to contend with and there is a player in there somewhere.

Sangare is only 26-years-old and he still has time on his side when it comes to being a success at the City Ground.

Fenerbahce may well want to sign Sangare but they’re going to have to up the ante when it comes to the figure they’re offering.

Forest will surely want much closer to what they paid for Sangare – and even then there is a chance that Forest want to cling onto the Ivorian to give him a chance this season.
