Chris Wood thinks Nottingham Forest have already made one superb signing this summer

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood will be hoping to score goals for Forest once again during the 2024/25 campaign.

Last season he scored 14 times in the Premier League and also helped himself to a goal in the FA Cup.

Wood looks like being tasked with the goalscoring mantle at Forest again this season – although the club are looking to add another striker.

Forest have done some business in the transfer market so far this summer with the most recent signing coming at the back.

Nikola Milenkovic was added from Fiorentina for a fee in the region of £12 million and he’s played in two of the friendlies Forest have made.

Wood has been discussing what it’s been like facing off against the player in training after he checked in at the City Ground.

What Chris Wood has said about Nikola Milenkovic

The man who led Fiorentina to back-to-back Europa Conference League finals looks like an astute addition to the Forest ranks.

The Reds will be desperate to ensure they can shore up – particularly at set pieces – when it comes to defending this season.

Milenkovic should help with that and it would appear as though Wood is impressed with the signing of the Serbian defender.

He told BBC Sport: “He’s a big lad and he’s got some good feet, we’re lucky to have him. He’s shown what he’s all about so it will be interesting to see him more in games.

“I think the four signings we’ve been made have been very astute.”

Milenkovic will quickly become Forest leader

It has to be said that the Forest dressing room is probably a little bit shy of leaders at the moment.

With the future of Joe Worrall somewhat unclear and Ryan Yates hardly considered a regular, Morgan Gibbs-White could start the season as the skipper.

The talented player is a good choice for captain but having a player like Milenkovic on the pitch could help too.

The 26-year-old captained Fiorentina on some occasions during his seven years in Serie A and he knows how to lead on the pitch.

It’s fascinating that Wood already fancies him to become a solid player on Trentside and hopefully, he can have a real presence at the club.
