Nobody epitomises what playing for Nottingham Forest is all about quite like Ryan Yates.
Last night it was announced that the central midfielder has signed a new contract to remain at the club until 2028.
Yates has grown as a footballer since making his Forest debut as a talented youngster in 2019.
Now, the 26-year-old is the vice-captain at the City Ground and has made 203 appearances for the club he calls his own.
Yates has stepped up to play Premier League football and Nuno Espirito Santo is yet another manager who has picked him regularly.
The central midfielder was due to be out of contract next summer but now he’s penned a four-year deal to remain at the club.

Ryan Yates signed new Nottingham Forest contract
Although the jury remains out on whether or not Yates is of the required quality for the Premier League, few can deny his commitment to the cause.
He leads by example on a daily basis and ultimately he’s one of the leaders when it comes to who players look up to in the dressing room.
Yates can now look forward to remaining at the club he calls his own for a number of years – and hopefully, he can push on even further.
In 203 appearances for Forest, Yates has played 18 times and registered nine assists – with one of these strikes coming in the top flight.
Promotion heroes and Callum Hudson-Odoi react to Yates announcement
It’s clear that the player is popular and after this news was announced he received some messages of support on social media.
Hudson-Odoi posted: “Congrats bro.”
Yates was instrumental in the promotion-winning campaign of 2021/22, playing a part in Levi Colwill’s own goal that won Forest promotion.
James Garner was a big player that season and he simply called Yates a ‘legend’ after he penned his new deal.
The Reds player will now face a battle to get into the team this season.
Steve Cook was another to take to social media, posting his response on X, and he feels that Yates deserves his new deal.
Nicolas Dominguez, Ibrahim Sangare, Danilo and Elliot Anderson will all compete for places in the team this season.
Espirito Santo is blessed with a number of quality options but it look as though Yates might play an instrumental part once more.
