Nottingham Forest-linked striker Kelechi Iheanacho has now made a decision over his future and is set to sign for a new club.

The talisman left Leicester at the end of last season and has been a free agent ever since departing the King Power Stadium.

Forest are in the market for a new striker before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood are the two players currently in the squad competing to lead the line but more options are required.

Now, Iheanacho has made a decision on his future and he’s chosen not to remain in the Premier League.

Kelechi Iheanacho will sign for Sevilla

Fabrizio Romano has now explained that Iheanacho has chosen to sign for Sevilla and he will sign for the La Liga outfit in the coming days.

The Nigeria international is going to pen terms of a contract with the club and move to Spain on a free transfer.

Iheanacho signed for Leicester from Manchester City and he won the FA Cup with the Foxes during his time at the club.

In 232 appearances for Leicester, he scored 61 goals and claimed 34 assists with the player also scoring 21 goals for City.

As a striker who is only 27, Iheanacho might have proved a useful addition to the Forest ranks but he’s now chosen to join Sevilla instead.

Forest must move on quickly after Iheanacho blow

As a free transfer, Iheanacho might not have proved a bad addition to the Forest ranks – but he’d have perhaps been a little underwhelming.

Last season he scored just six goals as Leicester won promotion from the Premier League and he’d hardly have been arriving in form.

Forest do need to add a striker to their ranks this summer with Wood not getting any younger and Awoniyi yet to play in pre-season.

However, there are probably better options available as alternatives to Iheanacho and perhaps Forest are better off out of this one.
