Nottingham Forest are now edging closer to the signing of another player with quality over quantity feeling very much like the order of the day this summer.

Forest have been meticulous in their approach and have taken their time on targets in order to get things right for Nuno Espirito Santo.

It’s been no secret that Forest are still keen to add players to the ranks, with wingers, a left-back and a new striker still in the club’s thoughts ahead of the deadline.

With the season roughly two weeks from commencing, things might start to crank up in the coming weeks as clubs start to finalise their preparations.

Now, Forest look to be close to completing a deal to bring another new player to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest close to Jota Silva signing

It would appear that Forest are starting to act like a proper football club these days – with the signing of Silva nearing completion.

The first links between Forest and Silva emerged yesterday and now Fabrizio Romano believes that a deal is close to going through.

It’s been claimed in Portugal that Forest will pay £9 million. £5.9 million of that will come upfront, with the other £3.1 million coming in the way of add-ons, according to journalist Sebastiao Sousa Pinto.

The talented player has already scored for Vitoria Guimaraes this season, bagging the only goal in a 1-0 win over Floriana in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Last season was an extremely good one for the player as he scored 15 times and claimed seven assists from 42 appearances. He was also cautioned on 11 occasions.

Intriguingly, Silva typically plays on the right wing and this addition will bring more competition for the spots currently occupied by Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Silva idolises Cristiano Ronaldo and is the Portuguese Jack Grealish

Forest might be getting themselves a bit of a gem here with Silva still only 24 and capable of playing in a number of positions.

In an interview with The Guardian in March he claimed that he uses Cristiano Ronaldo as an example to strive towards, naturally idolizing him.

In Portugal, his rolled-down socks, flowing locks and ability to leave defenders in his wake see him affectionately known as the Portuguese Jack Grealish and that certainly bodes well for Forest.

At 24, Silva is another player who quite clearly fits the remit of the type of player that Forest are trying to sign and he boasts an abundance of energy in the final third.

It’s refreshing to see Forest bin the drawn-out sagas of old and simply target players who they know are within their reach to grasp.

Silva will naturally have it all to prove in the Premier League but in our view, this looks like a very sensible piece of business from a Forest perspective.
