A Nottingham Forest transfer target is now set to fly to England to complete a move to a Premier League side – but the Reds face competition for his signature at the eleventh hour.
Forest are going to tie up a deal to sign Jota Silva imminently with the player having already travelled to England to sign for the club.
He can operate as a winger or as a striker and registered 22 goal contributions in the Portuguese top-flight last season.
Forest aren’t going to be finished there in the transfer market, however, with more attacking players in the club’s sights.
One of those is Ramon Sosa and there has now been some new information come to light about the talented Paraguay international.
Everton rival Nottingham Forest for Ramon Sosa
Last night there was all sorts of news being reported about Talleres winger Sosa.
Argentinean journalist David Paszucki claimed that Sosa was due to fly to England as soon as a deal was reached – and that would take a matter of hours.
Almost instantly after that news had broken, Team Talk claimed that Everton were hoping to gatecrash any move that Forest were making for Sosa.
Sosa is enjoying a brilliant season in Argentina during 2023/23, scoring seven times and claiming six assists from his 21 appearances.
That form has attracted the attention of clubs in Europe and it appears as though Forest are the ones holding the aces.
Still, with Everton now coming on the rails perhaps the race is a little more ferocious than the Reds might have first anticipated.
Talleres have been in negotiations with Forest over Sosa for a little while and it was claimed that they wanted to recoup around £20 million for his services.
Forest can’t lose out on Sosa to Everton
This would be a serious blow so late in the day for Forest to do all the heavy lifting and then watch Everton walk off with the player.
Forest have done well to identify this target and pounce relatively quickly – although talks with Talleres do appear to have been rough.
The Argentine club have tried to hold out for as much money as possible and if he does leave it will be interesting to see what they have dealt at.
Sosa looks like the type of player who fits the Forest transfer strategy to the ground.
He is 24-year-old, boasts the athleticism that Nuno Espirito Santo likes his players to have and also knows his way around the penalty area.
Sosa starred at the recent Copa America – despite Paraguay’s struggles – and he could be a very useful player for Forest over the course of a Premier League campaign.
The Everton interest might be the work of an agent trying to hurry Forest along and hopefully, Sosa will soon be getting snapped with a shiny new Forest shirt within his grasp.
