Nottingham Forest are trying desperately to complete a recruitment drive before the Premier League campaign gets underway in just over a week’s time.
The Reds have been active this summer – although not quite as active as the last two summer windows – bolstering the squad with six new players.
Eric da Silva Moreira, Elliot Anderson, Carlos Miguel, Nikola Milenkovic and Jota Silva have all signed up and taken part in the pre-season.
The first of the six was Marko Stamenic – but he has already jetted out to Greece to sign for Olympiacos on a season-long loan and may play against Forest tonight.
The transfer business is far from over yet, however, and now a fresh link has emerged and in fairness, it’s one that has come out of nowhere.

Nottingham Forest want Vinicius Souza from Sheffield United
According to reports from Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte, Forest are one of the clubs in the mix to land midfielder Souza from the Blades.
It’s claimed that the South Yorkshire might cash in on Souza if a fee of £18 million is made this summer following a strong recruitment drive.
Souza only signed for United last summer and was a regular in the team as they made an instant return to the Championship following a dismal campaign.
The midfielder played in all but two of United’s games in the Premier League last season but is now fancied by a host of clubs across Europe.
In the article it claims that Fulham provide further Premier League interest, with Lyon and Milan also keen to sign the defensive midfielder.
Who is Vinicius Souza?
The Brazilian performer made his first foray to the Premier League last summer when he joined the Blades for an undisclosed fee from Lommel in Belgium.
He signed for them from Brazilian outfit Flamengo in 2020 but found himself loaned out to KV Mechelen and Espanyol in La Liga.
Souza is a midfielder with defending firmly among his strengths and to say how poor Sheffield United were last season, it’s fair to say the statistics show he wasn’t.
Who Scored shows that with 125 tackles made last season, he was the third-best in that particular category in the entire division.
He was second only to Fulham’s former star Joao Palhinha and Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes when it came to successful tackles.
The analysis also has aerial duels, ball interception, and blocks as his strengths, citing that he likes to tackle but commits fouls often.
Forest should only swoop for Souza if midfielder exits
Nicolas Dominguez has been linked with a move to Galatasaray this summer, with Fenerbahce thought to be keen on Ibrahim Sangare – although that deal would be expensive.
Danilo is on the radar at Manchester United, whilst Ryan Yates has just signed a new long term contract at the football club.
In our view, this link is quite interesting but it makes us wonder if the Brazilian media are using Forest in the piece as they know the club has a strong link to the Brazilian market.
Signing Souza would only make sense should one of the aforementioned midfield players be on their way out of the City Ground this summer.
At the moment it seems a lot of money for a player who wouldn’t come in and be the first choice in his position and it feels like a case of wait and see with this one.
