Nottingham Forest are keen to sign a new striker before Friday’s transfer deadline and they’ve today been linked with an Icelandic wonderkid.

Orri Oskarsson isn’t a name that too many Forest fans will be familiar with. However, he’s a burgeoning talent who has drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland.

The FC Copenhagen striker could be allowed to leave this summer – although the clock is ticking for clubs to finalise their business.

Forest are in the market for a new striker and have been linked with Santiago Gimenez, Eddie Nketiah and Omar Marmoush during the window.

With the Reds one of the clubs linked to Oskarsson, Nottingham Forest News exclusively spoke with Icelandic football expert, Lucas Arnold to get the lowdown on the talisman.

Icelandic football expert shares Orri Oskarsson verdict

Naturally, we wanted to know what the 19-year-old could bring to Forest should the club advance in their efforts to sign him.

Arnold told us: “Oskarsson is such a natural finisher, there’s a bit of arrogance about the way he finishes his chances.

“So far in his career, he’s not been phased by anything – he was even starting games for his local team in Iceland at 15-years-old.

“When he gets a chance, he’s ruthless in front of goal, and considering his age, his movement is very intelligent too.”

Naturally, with any young player, there will be some areas of his game that he has to brush up on.

Oskarrson has made a blistering start to the season, scoring seven goals and claiming one assist from just 11 appearances.

However, TBR Football writer Arnold believes there will be some bits and pieces for him to work on.

He explained: “It’s just his experience – there are no glaring gaps in his game right now.

“He’s good at linking the play, but a move to Forest would surely be a big step up, even if he’s something of a ‘mentality monster’.”

The talented player has a host of clubs looking at him right now, with reports claiming that Brentford and Manchester United are also keen on him.

For Forest, it’s a signing that probably fits in with their recruitment strategy for this summer – but could he cut it in the Premier League?

Our expert believes he could, with Arnold continuing: “If he’s given time whilst Chris Wood continues to do his thing, there’s no doubt that Oskarsson can make it at the top level.

“He’s a rare talent and whoever signs him this summer will be very lucky – I’ve heard he’s very likely to go.”

Oskarsson would be perfect signing for Forest

The Reds are trying desperately to bolster their attacking arsenal ahead of the transfer deadline on Friday – and the Icelandic wonderkid might just be perfect.

Right now, Forest have two strikers in Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi who are more than capable of playing in the Premier League.

Furthermore, Wood has been bang in form under Nuno Espirito Santo and it would perhaps be harsh to simply drop him from the team.

That makes the signing of Oskarsson pretty much perfect for Forest.

The teenager would come in with a point to prove and with bags of potential but perhaps crucially he wouldn’t kick up a fuss about not immediately being a regular starter.

Oskarsson would still get plenty of minutes over the course of a season and he would be able to find his fee without any real pressure on making an immediate impact.

At £20 million, it sounds as though this might be a steal and hopefully, Forest can make advances on this one before tomorrow’s deadline.
