Nottingham Forest had a pretty quiet transfer deadline day choosing to sign two players; Morato from Benfica and James Ward-Prowse on loan from West Ham.
The Reds did try for a number of other players, with a striker the order of the day. Santiago Gimenez, Eddie Nketiah and Omar Marmoush were all targeted at some point but to no avail.
Forest did some really good business during the window and signed 11 new players in total. The club added a nice profile of younger players and ones with resale value for the future.
One sale that Forest completed came when they allowed Odysseas Vlachodimos to leave for Newcastle. Both clubs had PSR criteria to meet and the Reds took Elliot Anderson from the Magpies.

Journalist makes Odysseas Vlachodimos claim after Forest transfer
Craig Hope from the Daily Mail is a man with his finger on the pulse at Newcastle. Now, there is some information from him that showcases what Forest received for Vlachodimos.
Hope has claimed that the sums on the deal for the Greece goalkeeper were enough to make your eyes water such was the amount that Newcastle parted with.
The sale of the Greece number one was used to offset the £35 million that Forest parted with to sign Anderson. He’s already making an impact and looks like a very shrewd piece of business.
Forest also managed to offload Matt Turner during the transfer window. He joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan – much to the delight of the club’s fan base and Forest.
Forest showcased business acumen in the transfer market this summer
This was an extremely refreshing summer. Forest have been somewhat haphazard when it comes to their recruitment since returning to the Premier League in 2022 – with the club often thinking with their wallet rather than with any sense.
Things were different in the summer of 2024 though. Players were added that fit the profile of what George Syrianos typically likes to attract and each player added should boast significant resale value.
Forest also got rid of some serious deadwood out of the door – including Vlachodimos. Others could yet move on, with Hwang Ui-jo and Emmanuel Dennis likely to attract interest from overseas.
It’s fascinating that Forest managed to get a big sum for Vlachodimos – a player who cost £4 million just one year ago. It shows a clear shift for Forest at the boardroom level, however, and long may this savvy nature continue.
