Nottingham Forest have a number of players who are on duty with their country during the international break that has curbed Premier League football for the time being.

The Reds need to ensure they can maintain their unbeaten start when football returns, although looking at the fixture list that won’t be easy.

Forest go to Liverpool in the first game back and then face Brighton away before facing a test from Fulham at the City Ground to see out the month.

Next month, the Reds have Chelsea on their travels and it will be a period that probably showcases where Forest are as a club.

Elliot Anderson plays for England under-21s

The man who signed for Forest for a fee of £35 million in the summer from Newcastle has switched his international allegiance it would seem.

He was called up for the England under-21s by interim boss Ben Futcher and made his debut against Northern Ireland on Friday.

England were disappointing in total honesty, drawing 0-0 with a team that were comfortably despatched 3-0 in November.

With a host of players making the step up to the England senior ranks – including Morgan Gibbs-White – it was a very different-looking under-21 outfit, however.

Anderson didn’t play the full game but he will be happy to get the first cap for the under-21s and now he might have a full cap in his sights if he can keep playing well for Forest.

After making his debut, Anderson spoke of his pride on Instagram at making an appearance for the England under-21s.

On posting that message on social media, he received some praise from Gibbs-White who took the time to wish him well.

He said: “Congrats brother.”

Gibbs-White also posted a love heart emoji, whilst Ola Aina simply said, “Love it”, with a flame emjoi alongside his post.

Newcastle players Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall also commented and clearly Anderson was a very popular player during his time at Newcastle.

Anderson has made a very promising start to life at Forest and hopefully, his good form can continue as the season progresses.
