Nottingham Forest landed Elliot Anderson from Newcastle during the summer transfer window and he’s made a strong start to life at St James’ Park.
The Reds did some financial gymnastics with the Magpies to aid both clubs in a quest to meet the latest PSR criteria and avoid a points deduction.
Anderson signed for Forest in a deal with £35 million with Newcastle agreeing to buy Odysseas Vlachodimos for £20 million to offset the difference.
Right now, Forest midfielder Anderson is playing for the England under-21s during the international break having appeared to change his allegiance from Scotland.
The 21-year-old has previously represented the Tartan Army at youth level and now he’s been discussing what he plans to do in the future when it comes to senior international football.

Elliot Anderson makes huge decision on his international future
Naturally, Anderson’s inclusion in the England under-21 squad drew some surprise given that he’s previously had ties with Scotland.
The midfielder made his debut for the young Three Lions last week, playing during a 0-0 draw against Northern Ireland.
Now, he’s been quizzed on his future and it would appear that he’s turned his back on Scotland once and for all.
He told The Scotsman: “Is it a final decision? Yeah, I see myself playing for England. It was as I’m Scottish and English. It’s something that I’ve been trying to decide for a whole, and I hope I’ve made the right decision.
“It’s down to how you feel, that’s just the most important thing. How you feel when you put the strip on and that is what has swayed my decision here.”
Anderson can take heart from Morgan Gibbs-White call-up
The Forest attacker is currently with the England setup for the very first time and he’s proved that he doesn’t need to be playing with a top-six club to make waves on the international stage.
Anderson can take a lot of heart from that. He’s got a long-term contract at Forest and unlike at Newcastle, he should play regular football at the City Ground.
As a result, it’s easy to see why the player has made this call. Scotland would have a clearer pathway but clearly he feels that his heart is with England and wearing the famous Three Lions.
Anderson has made a great start to life at Forest. He was arguably the Player of the Match against Wolves last time out and hopefully, he can continue to fulfil his potential with the Reds.
