Nottingham Forest have a host of players currently away playing international football at the moment – with Morgan Gibbs-White spending time with the England setup for the first time.

On Saturday, he was given game time from the bench with Lee Carsley kicking off his spell as the team’s interim head coach. Gibbs-White came on for the final 14 minutes as England saw out a 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

The attacking midfielder came on in place of Jack Grealish – who scored against the nation he previously represented. He showcased some nice touches during his time on the pitch and perhaps he will push for a start tomorrow.

Gibbs-White has begun the season at Forest in fine form. He scored the winner against Southampton and he will now want to play well and keep getting selected for the England team.

Stan Collymore delivers Morgan Gibbs-White verdict after England appearance

The former Forest and England striker knows what it takes to don the Three Lions. He only made three appearances for his country and given the potential he had that probably should have been a few more.

Now, Gibbs-White will be hoping to kick on even further and prove he can become a regular in the England dressing room. The Three Lions face Finland tomorrow and he will be rooting for a chance to start.

Collymore was impressed with Gibbs-White after his cameo display under Carsley. He posted on X: “Damage done first half with high press, high-quality finishes. Second half with subs and slower tempo was always going to be less fun but nice to see MGW get game time, looked very much at home.”

Gibbs-White is worth a fortune to Forest and his valuation has just soared

The 24-year-old attacker was already worth a fortune to Forest. Gibbs-White cost £25 million when the club chose to sign him, with add-ons possibly taking the deal towards £42.5 million.

Several clubs have been linked with Gibbs-White previously, given his efforts on the pitch for Forest. The time will likely come when Forest do have to sell but for now, that’s not in the club’s thinking.

Now that Gibbs-White has an England cap to his name, Forest can push that valuation higher. The club will want a significant profit on what they paid and they won’t be held at ransom by bigger clubs.

It’s been a pleasure to watch Gibbs-White grow as a player and as a person at Forest. Now, he can be considered an England international and the challenge for him now is to remain part of the group going forward.
