Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Brighton on Sunday to maintain an unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign but the debate rumbles on over the red card given to Morgan Gibbs-White.
The Reds were reduced to 10 men for the final part of the game on Sunday after Gibbs-White collected a second yellow card for a reckless tackle on Joao Pedro.
It wasn’t the actual tackle that caused the controversy but instead the fact that Rob Jones initially signalled that Gibbs-White had played the ball and he was happy with the tackle.
Jones has been stood down by the Premier League this weekend in the clearest hint yet, and the powers that be feel he should have stuck with his initial decision.
Gibbs-White spent his day off earlier this week training the youth team and he won’t be available for the visit from Fulham this weekend.
The debate rumbles on regarding the sending off and it’s pretty drab that VAR can’t get involved or an appeal be made following the game.

Footage shows what Anthony Taylor said to get Morgan Gibbs-White sent off
Well, this footage will just annoy Forest supporters even more given that it’s not come to light what Anthony Taylor said after the tackle was made.
It looked as though Gibbs-White clearly won the ball before his momentum from making the tackle carried him into Pedro – who is now injured.
Some footage has come to light, showing Taylor saying that he felt the Forest man won the ball.
Then, in a bizarre turn of events he repeats the phrase ‘it’s a yellow’ on three occasions prompting Jones to change his mind and send Gibbs-White off.
Not one Forest fan would have had too many complaints had Jones made his own call to send Gibbs-White from the field but the process was a mess.
Taylor is there to act as the fourth official and getting involved in impacting something that the referee has clearly seen isn’t part of his remit.
Forest must park this and focus on Fulham
Ultimately, the Reds were on the wrong end of another poor decision but on this occasion, it didn’t cost the club anything.
Gibbs-White could actually get another game suspension with some charges to answer for improper conduct after his sending-off.

Right now, Taylor isn’t fit for purpose. He created the Premier League record for the most number of yellow cards when refereeing Bournemouth and Chelsea the week previous and now he’s in the news again.
Still, there is no good crying about this now from a Forest perspective. Full focus must now go on Fulham this weekend and it’s a game that gives the club a huge chance to get another three points on the board.
