Nuno wowed by ‘fantastic’ Nottingham Forest player who stars on and off the pitch

Nottingham Forest will go in search of a maiden home win of the 2024/24 campaign this weekend when Fulham arrive on Trentside.

The Reds drew 2-2 with Brighton last weekend and prior to that, a 1-0 win over Liverpool was secured at Anfield.

Despite a positive start to the campaign, Forest have drawn both of their home games against Bournemouth and Wolves this season.

Forest have had a number of top performers in their ranks so far this season.

Ian Wright has waxed lyrical about Murillo, whilst Nikola Milenkovic has been very strong beside him.

Another player is quietly going about his business, however, and Nuno Espirito Santo has been quizzed on him this afternoon.

Nuno Espirito Santo raves about Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood

The 32-year-old Forest centre-forward has been going about his business with aplomb, scoring three goals so far this season.

Wood netted from the penalty spot against Brighton last week and it’s now five goals in his last six appearances.

The experienced performer will be in action again this weekend when Forest face Fulham and Espirito Santo is very happy with the striker.

He said in his press conference on YouTube: “He’s a top professional, a fantastic striker. I repeat myself, not only the goals that he does but all of the things, the voice in the dressing room, what he means for the team and his teammates, we are delighted with him.

“What we give him is confidence, we trust him and let’s hope he continues.”

Forest should look to extend Wood stay at the City Ground

This might sound bonkers but perhaps Forest should look to extend Wood’s deal on Trentside by a year.

The Reds are short on strikers, with Taiwo Awoniyi the only player acting as competition and one will surely be at the top of the shortlist in the near future.

Wood sticking around would be ideal though. Clearly, he still knows where the back of the net is and it would be a shame to see him leave.

Although the striker will be 33 next season, there is still a role for him at the club and naturally, there is a decision to be made.

A stumbling block could be the wage he earns but if Espirito Santo has anything to do with the situation, Wood could find himself at Forest beyond the end of this season.
