Nottingham Forest signed Jota Silva from Vitoria during the summer transfer window as the club sought to strengthen their options in the final third.

The Portuguese forward brings versatility to the City Ground ranks and he’s made a pretty exciting start to his career at Forest.

Silva set up Ramon Sosa for the Forest equaliser against Brighton and scored his first goal for the club in a Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle.

The 25-year-old was an unknown quantity when he arrived at Forest but after five substitute appearances – and a start in the League Cup – he looks a positive addition.

Moving to England from Portugal is a big step for any player and it would seem as though he took some advice from a number of people before making the move.

Jota Silva shares text he received from Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes

The versatile forward does have experience of playing with the United star, making two appearances for the Portugal national team.

Silva will be keen to get back into that reckoning and clearly, he will need to be playing frequently for Forest in order to do that.

The Portuguese performer has now shared the messages he received before signing for Forest, with Fernandes giving him some advice on coming to England.

Silva told O Joga: “I spoke to the people closest to me to help me and give me their opinion. When I heard about Forest’s interest, I ended up speaking to Tiago (Silva) who had already been here. He gave me very good information about the club.

“When I came here, Bruno Fernandes sent me a message wishing me good luck, and saying I’d love to be here in England. Cafu, who also played here, told me straight away that I would be very well received.”

Jota Silva must be close to Forest star under Nuno Espirito Santo

The Forest head coach is often keen to reward strong form and Silva is ultimately knocking firmly on the manager’s door right now.

Every time the player has been summonsed from the bench he’s had a strong impact on the proceedings and he’s doing all that he can.

Silva clearly had some strong advice from the people closest to him and it’s intriguing that Fernandes dropped him a message of support.

The talented wide player is winning over the fan base with his cameo performances and surely it’s only a matter of time before Silva earns himself a start.
