Nottingham Forest are set to open talks with one of their players over a new deal after some impressive performances recently.

Nuno Espirito Santo has managed to get the very best out of a number of players at the City Ground.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi are playing some of the best football in their careers, which has been rewarded by another call-up to the England squad for Gibbs-White.

However, the former missed out against Fulham due to suspension. It proved fatal as a lack of creativity starved the strikers of any service, with the away side picking up all three points.

Despite this, it’s the first loss of the season for Forest, so things are still positive.

Interestingly, it looks as if the club have their eyes set on rewarding one of their players.

With impressive performances from a number of players, it’s always sensible to look at who you can tie down to new deals to fend off any interest.

Newcastle United tried to sign Anthony Elanga late on in the summer transfer window.

However, it’s not him that the club are looking to tie down to a new deal.

According to John Percy, Nottingham Forest are set to open contract talks over a new deal for Ola Aina.

Ola Aina’s season to date for Nottingham Forest

Ola Aina, who earns £40k per week, joined Nottingham Forest last summer and hasn’t looked back since.

The defender has been a revelation over the past year and has started this season well too, constantly causing problems in the final third and using his pace to keep some of the deadliest attackers at bay.

His versatility is also a massive factor, with his ability to play left-back or right-back.

At 27 years of age he’s heading into the peak years of his career too.
