Nottingham Forest enjoyed a far less chaotic transfer window this summer and the squad looks more settled because of it.

The Reds added nine players to the squad with two more – Marko Stamenic and David Carmo – joining Olympiacos on loan.

Forest have made a solid start to the 2024/25 campaign, claiming nine points from six games played so far.

Nuno Espirito Santo takes his team away from the City Ground to play Chelsea today and a repeat of the performance against Liverpool would be ideal.

Forest have added quality over quantity this summer and Espirito Santo has been quizzed on one of those players that came to the club during the transfer window.

What Nuno Espirito Santo said about Nikola Milenkovic

The Serbian defender has been nothing short of a revelation since signing for Forest this summer.

The Reds needed a strong influence at the heart of their defence and Milenkovic has struck up a good partnership with Murillo.

Milenkovic has looked the part since coming to Forest and Espirito Santo is clearly a big fan of the player.

He said ahead of the Chelsea game: “We’re very pleased with Nikola. He’s been really good for us, he’s stepped in and performed well.

“He’s vocal and can help us with leadership and physical presence. He’s focused, determined and very competitive. This is the sort of player the team badly needs.”

Milenkovic is the signing of the summer for Forest

The recruitment at Forest has been criticised in the past but this summer things have been brilliant.

Milenkovic signalled a statement of intent with Forest landing a centre-back in his prime for just £12 million.

Fiorentina were willing to let their skipper leave for such a low fee and their loss is definitely a gain to Forest.

Milenkovic helped La Viola reach back-to-back Europa Conference League finals and that level of experience is huge for Forest.

Forest needed something a little bit different at centre-back and in Milenkovic they have a player who is now at the peak of his powers.

The Reds have silenced a lot of doubters with this addition to the ranks and it might not be long before he’s captaining the Forest team.
