Ian Wright admits he loves watching ‘fantastic’ Nottingham Forest player after Chelsea display

Nottingham Forest have made a quality start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with 10 points collected from the opening seven games of the campaign.

The Reds held a rampant Chelsea team to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and that game ensured Forest stayed unbeaten on their travels this season.

Chris Wood scored the team’s only goal at Chelsea and he impressed Roy Keane. The talisman now has four goals to his name this season and remains the man tasked with scoring goals.

Joe Hart was impressed with Matz Sels at the weekend and it’s fair to say that an argument could have been made for a number of Forest players to win Man of the Match.

Forest have done really well away from home this season and after the international break, it will be imperative that Nuno Espirito Santo starts to get things right away from the City Ground.

Ian Wright makes intriguing Murillo claim after Nottingham Forest form

The Reds held firm when a number of clubs wanted their star defender. Murillo was actually wanted by Chelsea and had something of an audition during the Stamford Bridge clash.

The Brazilian did okay during the game – although perhaps he wasn’t quite at his best. A couple of slips were made and on another day he might have been guilty of gifting the opposition a goal.

Murillo does have credit in the bank though and Ian Wright is a huge fan. He’s even suggested that he can already see his future not including him playing for Forest.

He told the Stick to Football podcast: “Just a quick word on Forest. You see Murillo, I love watching that centre-half. I want to see where he ends up, he’s finding form. I really do think he’s fantastic.”

Forest will inevitably lose Murillo in the future

The Reds landed the unknown quantity from Corinthians for a fee of £10.6 million in the summer of 2023. He made his debut in October and has been ever-present in the Premier League ever since that point.

Manchester City wanted Murillo prior to the interest from Forest. As a result, his quality and vast potential hasn’t gone unnoticed among the big-hitters of the Premier League.

Murillo is now one of the first names on the team sheet at Forest. Furthermore, he’s striking up a wonderful partnership with Nikola Milenkovic who is getting even more out of the Brazilian.

The 22-year-old was right to stick at Forest this summer, however. Right now, he needs to be playing regular football and another season of Premier League action should put him in good shape for the future.
