Nottingham Forest are trying desperately to stabilise as a Premier League football club and with Evangelos Marinakis steering things, the club is on the up.

Marinakis has this week been banned from the City Ground for five matches after marching pitchside to confront the match officials after a defeat to Fulham.

The Forest owner has done great work at the club, however, and deserves credit for restoring Premier League football after a 23-year hiatus.

Marinakis has done great work in upgrading the club’s training ground and there will be more changes made in the coming years.

Forest are hopeful of challenging for a place in the top half of the table under Marinakis and the owner is leaving no stone unturned in his quest for greatness.

Kevin Nolan hails Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis

It’s about time that Marinakis got some respect from pundits as some of the stuff said about him in the past is pretty ridiculous.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher went to town on him after his outburst towards the match officials last season and that didn’t seem fair.

Kevin Nolan has a son in the academy at Forest and is still living in Nottingham from his time managing neighbours Notts County.

Speaking during an interview with Ryan Yates on the 5 Live Premier League kick-off show, Nolan hailed the Forest owner.

He said: “The owner has backed the club, he has been fantastic getting players in. He is obviously changing the training ground now, he is doing all the bits up. What everyone else can’t see, you (Ryan Yates) lads are getting the benefit of that.”

Marinakis will have European dream with Forest

Moments after the team had won promotion to the Premier League, Marinakis stunned reporters by saying he wouldn’t be in the top flight to make up the numbers.

The owner wants Forest to compete for the biggest prizes in football and he won’t accept mediocre football and below-par performances on Trentside.

Seeing Olympiacos win the Europa Conference League last season will have only enhanced his desire to bring that level of success to Forest.

Although Forest are some distance from being a team challenging for Europe just yet, the desire to see the club in those type of competitions is there from the perspective of the owner.

Hopefully, this season is one where the club can kick on and next season could prove really exciting if Forest can push up the league this time around.
