Newcastle United fans all saying the same thing about Elliot Anderson after his Nottingham Forest display

Nottingham Forest managed to secure the services of Elliot Anderson in the summer, and Newcastle United fans already seem to be regretting him leaving.

Nuno Espirito Santo had one of the best seats in the house in the stands, but that’s through no choice of his own as he’s currently serving a three-game ban.

Nottingham Forest did look troubled at times defensively, but they managed to hold on for another clean sheet, with Matz Sels largely to thank for that.

We believe Sels has proved Nuno Espirito Santo’s decision not to drop him after his mistake last month to be the correct one, as he shone against Chelsea too.

The Reds now turn their attention towards a clash with Leicester City, who are currently managed by former Forest boss Steve Cooper.

And Nuno will be hoping that Elliot Anderson keeps his fine run of form going.

Elliot Anderson’s display against Crystal Palace

The Englishman only joined in the summer transfer window from Newcastle United, but he’s already established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.

Alan Smith was impressed with Anderson’s dribbling ability against Palace, comparing him to Lionel Messi for his one moment of brilliance in the first half.

He played 76 minutes, had 67 touches, a passing accuracy of 95%, made five key passes, completed three crosses, completed one long ball, created two big chances, had two shots on target, completed all six of his dribbles, won 11 duels, was fouled once, made one interception and one tackle.

This was a performance that even had Newcastle United fans wishing for him back.

These Newcastle United fans, when speaking on X, all said how much they wished they still had Anderson.

“Wood as a back up as well there is plenty of lads in our side Wood & Anderson should be in over. Disgraceful.”, @Matty01207 said.

@EverMore_NUFC wasn’t happy: “Watching Anderson ball & wondering why the we sold him & kept Longstaff. “Trust the process?” Aye ok.”

@Ginkohro stated: “Now I rather get 5-6 points deduction than selling Anderson. Anyone who decide on it should get sack asap.”

@InThe91st mentioned: “I’d rather have taken the 6 point deduction and kept Elliot Anderson.”

“Pretty sure if #NUFC had kept Minteh and Anderson and taken a 10 pt deduction we’d still be sitting exactly where we are.”, @toonarmytulsa said.

@The_GeordieFox commented: “Elliot Anderson running the show for Forest again. Good for him. He needed to start games and he wasn’t starting for #NUFC . Should have put a buy-back clause in though.”
