Nottingham Forest fans will be rubbing their hands at the thought of the East Midlands derby, with a trip to face Steve Cooper’s Leicester City on Friday night.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side head into this one off the back of a win and a draw in their previous two games, and a position in the top half of the table.

However, the Reds will be without their main man Nuno, as he’s still serving his three-match suspension after being charged by the FA.

Morgan Gibbs-White can return to the squad if deemed fit, but Nuno wasn’t sure whether he’d be available yet in his pre-match press conference.

Interestingly, Steve Cooper will be facing Forest for the first time since his departure, with many players he signed at the City Ground set to go up against him.

Chris Wood joined Forest in January of last year whilst Cooper was still in charge.

However, the New Zealand international has reached new heights under the mentorship of Nuno Espirito Santo, scoring five goals in eight games so far this season.

Now, when speaking in his pre-match press conference, Cooper only mentioned Chris Wood when briefly speaking about Nottingham Forest (as per Leicester Mercury).

Here’s what he had to say.

“With Chris Wood, they have a goalscorer. They’re creating chances for him and they have good athleticism. Whatever team you play in the Premier League, you can always see what they do well. But we have to back ourselves.”

Who plays if Morgan Gibbs-White remains out injured?

Nottingham Forest looked quite assured against Crystal Palace on Monday night, creating 20 chances and enjoying 51% possession at the City Ground.

However, playing away from home is always a different challenge.

Elliot Anderson will surely be given the role of filling in for Gibbs-White once again if he doesn’t make it as he had one of his best displays of the season, with his full dribbling ability on display.

Nicolas Dominguez could be the man to drop out of midfield if Gibbs-White is fit in time, but even that would be harsh as he made multiple interceptions, tackles and blocks against Palace.
