Nottingham Forest are sitting pretty in the Premier League after a 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday.

The result has shot the Reds up to third place, with only Liverpool and reigning champions Manchester City currently better off at this stage of the season.

Forest have won three games in succession since domestic action returned after the latest international break to move third in the Premier League table.

A first home win of the season against Crystal Palace was backed up on Saturday by a brilliant victory over West Ham to pile the pressure on Julen Lopetegui at the weekend.

The win over Leicester saw Steve Cooper lose out to his former club and his team almost became the first team to lose to Ipswich in the Premier League this season on Saturday.

It’s Forest who are catching the headlines, however, and it’s going to be a great week for us supporters who simply can’t stop glancing towards the league table to check that things are actually real.

Fabrizio Romano corrected after making Nottingham Forest claim

It’s that long ago since Forest were in the higher echelons of the Premier League and it’s not difficult to understand why Romano has got his wires crossed here.

After the 3-0 win over West Ham, he posted on X a little message about Forest and made a claim about the last time the club sat in such a lofty position.

He said: “Credits to Nottingham Forest, in Premier League’s top four for the first time since 1988. Excellent job by the board, management, Nuno and the players so far.”

However, his claim was incorrect given that Forest actually maintained such form during 1994/95 when Frank Clark led the team to a third-place finish.

Back then it was enough to secure a UEFA Cup spot with Forest losing in the quarter-final to Bayern Munich during the following campaign.

Furthermore, Forest were actually third – albeit briefly in September 1998 – and Romano has been corrected by X who is now keen to remind readers of factually incorrect information.

They posted: “This statement is incorrect as Nottingham Forest finished 3rd in the 94/95 season.”

Forest must stay grounded ahead of huge December

It’s a great start to the season for Forest but right now, that’s all it is, with just 10 games of the campaign completed.

Forest face Newcastle at home on Sunday before heading to Arsenal and then finishing November with a home game against Ipswich Town.

Then, things get really tough with Forest facing Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham during a December that looks very tough.

However, it’s great that the team have got some points on the board early doors and that has provided a solid foundation to build from for the remainder of the season.
