‘Outstanding’ Nottingham Forest player needs January loan after landing big setback

Nottingham Forest are riding the crest of a wave at the moment and it’s looking up for the football club.

Forest currently sit third in the Premier League having won five and drawn four of the opening 10 games of the 2024/25 campaign.

Chris Wood has bagged eight goals in 10 appearances so far this season and he’s in red-hot form at the moment.

Across the pitch, Forest have a number of top-performing players with Nuno Espirito Santo now reaping the rewards of a meticulous approach in the transfer market.

The new recruits – along with a solid start to the season – have left some players now sweating on their City Ground future.

With international bosses now starting to name their squads for the next round of fixtures, one Forest player must now be seriously considering throwing the towel in on Trentside.

Andrew Omobamidele left out of Republic of Ireland squad

A big game at Wembley against England awaits Ireland during the international break – but for Omobamidele it’s a case of rest and recuperation.

That’s because he’s been left out of the squad named by Icelandic boss Heimir Hallgrimsson.

Omobamidele played against Greece during the last international break and did quite well despite a defeat.

Had he been called up this time around it would have surely given the defender a chance to get a few games under his belt.

Now, that opportunity won’t be forthcoming with the 22-year-old left out in the cold – much like teammate Anthony Elanga who has been omitted from the Sweden squad.

When it comes to Ireland, the defender has been praised by footballing royalty, with Paul McGrath calling Omobamidele ‘outstanding’ earlier in his career.

Omobamidele needs a loan away from Nottingham Forest

Forest made a late move to sign Omobamidele during transfer deadline day in the summer of 2023. He cost the club around £11 million.

Steve Cooper never gave Omobamidele a chance to play and it wasn’t until Espirito Santo came in that he earned a chance.

The talented youngster played 14 games for Forest in all competitions last season and largely played well when called upon.

This season has been a different story though and for six of the 10 Premier League fixtures, Omobamidele hasn’t even made the matchday squad.

That simply isn’t ideal and for a player of his age to be sat playing no football at all isn’t ideal at all.

Forest have Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo starring in the team, with Morato and Willy Boly both acting as reserve options from the bench.

That means Omobamidele’s pathway to the senior squad is just too restricted right now and the club must do whatever it takes to get him on loan in January.
