Nottingham Forest’s unbeaten streak came to an end against Newcastle United last weekend, and there was one moment in the game that didn’t please Jamie Carragher.
Let’s not take anything away from Nuno Espirito Santo and the brilliant start his Nottingham Forest have made to the Premier League campaign, as fans have started to dream again.
Nottingham Forest raced ahead thanks to Murillo’s first goal for the club, but it was just a case of Newcastle being the better side in the second half that tipped the result in their favour.
Morgan Gibbs-White had an off day against Newcastle, which certainly didn’t help, but he’ll be full of confidence coming back after the international break as he assisted for the Three Lions last night.
Jamie Carragher watched the Nottingham Forest game and noticed one incident during which a rule should be changed moving forward.

Jamie Carragher calls for a rule change after Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle incident
There was one moment when Tino Livramento went down with a knock, which then meant that he couldn’t help his side defend the incoming attack due to the rule of him having to leave the field.
This didn’t please Jamie Carragher who was quick to call for a rule change, as he believes that this gives an unfair advantage to the attacking side.

Speaking on Sky Sports (as per Caught Offside), here’s what Carragher had to say.
“The way that rule has been set up at the moment, it’s something to be looked at. I mean, Livramento has had a whack there, should have had a free kick.
“Nottingham Forest have got a free kick, Livramento can’t defend it. They are actually down to 10 men. That has to change. That’s nonsense that.”

Does this call for a rule change?
Well, it’s a rule that makes sense depending on the injury. If you’ve taken a whack to the head and require a bit of treatment then it makes sense to take some time out and be allowed back onto the field.
However, for something as silly as cramp it does seem slightly flawed that you have to spend time off the side of the pitch despite being perfectly fine to carry on if the physio enters.
Removing the rule could increase the amount of time wasted by faking injuries and dragging things out, allowing the physio to come onto the field knowing that you won’t have to leave.
