Leicester City are currently dealing with a managerial change after Steve Cooper’s departure, and it’s come out that they paid a substantial fee to Nottingham Forest for a staff member.

Nottingham Forest are in a little bit of a rough patch of their own having conceded six goals in their back-to-back losses, albeit they were against Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side had some success at the Emirates but they just couldn’t find the back of the net, and were punished for sitting too deep at times.

Gary Birtles was shocked that Chris Wood was named on the substitutes’ bench, though Nuno did bring up jet lag prior to the game as a slight clue.

In slightly better news, it has come out that Nottingham Forest received a substantial fee for one of their staff members who departed earlier on this season.

Leicester City paid Nottingham Forest a substantial fee for Steve Rands

Steve Rands left Nottingham Forest around May time to join up with Steve Cooper as he looked to tackle the challenges of a new job in the Premier League.

He took up the role of first-team coach and analyst at Leicester City, following Cooper pretty much everywhere he goes after first joining him at Swansea City.

Interestingly, it appears as if Leicester acquiring Rands came at a price as details have emerged.

According to the Athletic, Leicester paid a substantial buyout clause to Nottingham Forest to acquire Steve Rands’ services earlier on this year.

Steve Cooper’s time at Nottingham Forest

Despite what some people say, Steve Cooper achieved an awful lot at Nottingham Forest.

After all, he did something that no other Forest manager could muster in 23 years, which was gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Things sadly went stale at the City Ground, and results weren’t going his way.

Nuno Espirito Santo has picked things up nicely and is building something special at Nottingham Forest, so it’s easy to look down on Cooper at Leicester.

However, Cooper can feel slightly hard done by given the fact he was tasked with avoiding relegation.
