Furious Nottingham Forest fans all agree one player looked ‘out of his depth’ vs Manchester City

Nottingham Forest were well beaten by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium as the reigning champions ran out 3-0 winners.

It was a comfortable night for the Citizens with the game settled after goals from Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku scoring the goals.

Forest had beaten Ipswich at the weekend to get back to winning ways but it’s now three defeats in four games for the Reds and improvements are required.

The Reds did compete at the Etihad but ultimately, City’s world-class team finally came good after weeks of not winning matches in the Premier League.

Chris Wood won’t want to see his miss from the first half again but he has some credit in the bank at the very least.

There was another player in the firing line from a Forest perspective and ultimately, Nuno Espirito Santo wasn’t impressed either.

Nottingham Forest fans furious with Ryan Yates vs Manchester City

It’s fair to say that fans were incensed with Yates’ part in the second goal.

After letting Doku brush him off with ease, the Forest captain chose to go down holding his face, once again trying to con the referee into giving a foul.

However, fans are growing tired of that trait that he’s adopting.

Another fan is getting sick and tired of Yates for his antics, saying: “While I think we’ve been unfortunate that City have put out their best team for a while, the individual errors have been pathetic. So poor from Yates to fall over there.”

Another Forest fan was in doubt as to what he wanted to happen to Yates at half-time, saying: “Ryan Yates should get absolutely shafted by Nuno for that drop he did, which led to City’s second goal.

Finally, another one said: “As brilliant as he’s been all season he looks well out of depth today.”

Yates now facing a fight for his place in the team vs Manchester United

This was a really poor performance from the Forest captain.

He has been largely brilliant this season but had this been James Ward-Prowse, the narrative would likely have been very different.

The on-loan West Ham man would have been hammered considerably but Yates might get a free pass given he’s from the academy.

Fans are growing tired of his knack of trying to win cheap free-kicks and he must be aware that referees are getting wise to it.

Yates has proved people wrong before and now he needs to do it all over again – if, of course, he gets a chance to play against United on Saturday.
