Nottingham Forest are fifth in the Premier League after 16 games of the season following a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.
Anthony Elanga swept home the winner three minutes into injury time after Nikola Milenkovic had cancelled out Jhon Duran’s opening goal.
Elanga was praised by Theo Walcott after the game and it was his first goal since February as Forest claimed a seriously big victory against a club playing in the Champions League.

Nuno Espirito Santo is currently saying and doing all the right things and Forest are looking to enjoy a truly memorable campaign during 2024/25.
There were a number of top performers on Saturday. Robbie Mustoe praised Morgan Gibbs-White but he wasn’t the only player who played out of skin during the 90 minutes.

Jamie Redknapp hails ‘aggressive’ Nottingham Forest player
Forest went for quality over quantity during the summer transfer window. Although 11 new players were added, two of them headed straight out on loan to Olympiacos for the campaign.
The nine who have remained on Trentside have all contributed to the season so far in some way, shape or form and the future looks very bright.
It looks crystal clear that a certain profile of player was targeted with young, hungry players with significant resale value seemingly on the radar of Forest
Redknapp was working for Sky Sports at the weekend and he thinks that one of those players is currently performing fantastically well this season and has called him the team’s best signing.
He said: “Elliot Anderson at 22-years-old of age is, when you’re trying to sign players, that profile of player, young, English, aggressive, he wants to win.
“He’s got that and he’s been one of their best signings I think. The signings they’ve made this season are the reason they’re were they are in the Premier League.”
Anderson in numbers vs Aston Villa
The Reds performer was bang in form against the Villans even if Unai Emery thought Anderson was lucky not to give a penalty away in the first half.
His performance was extremely impressive and once again he showcased why he has to play when he’s fit enough to do so.
He completed 88.5% of the 61 passes that he attempted and tried to make things happen for Forest during his 90 minutes on the pitch, according to Who Scored.
| Elliot Anderson vs Aston Villa | Total |
| Minutes | 90+7 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Tackles | 7 |
| Key Passes | 4 |
| Dribbles | 3 |
Furthermore, he was superb defensively and won seven tackles – considerably more than any other Forest player across the 90 minutes he spent on the pitch.
Anderson was in fine form as Forest put Villa to the sword in the dying embers of the game and this was comfortably his best showing in the Garibaldi.
Redknapp has a point. It’s hard to argue that pound-for-pound, Anderson isn’t the club’s best signing of the summer, with his form truly incredible thus far.
