Nottingham Forest beat Brentford 2-0 on Saturday to make it three successive wins in the Premier League.

The Reds are sat fourth in the Premier League going into Christmas Day and the team are exceeding everyone’s expectations this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to temper those expectations conceding that nothing has been accomplished just yet this season.

However, the Forest head coach has got supporters dreaming of a positive season for the first time in many years when it comes to the Premier League.

Espirito Santo was praised by Brian Laws at the weekend after he chose to go with three central defenders to try and stifle the threat posed by Brentford.

There were a number of top performers from the game at the weekend and once again the Team of the Week features a Forest player.

Troy Deeney picks Nottingham Forest star for Team of the Week

The pundit has come in for some criticism this season for constantly overlooking Forest players after positive results.

Last week he put Nikola Milenkovic in his team after the win over Aston Villa and this week he’s opted for Ola Aina.

The Nigerian scored his second goal of the campaign against the Bees with a well-taken strike after some good work from Neco Williams.

Deeney told BBC Sport: “Another great win for Nottingham Forest, beating Brentford at their place.

“He looks solid defensively and is a great option going forward as well, as shown by his goal.”

Ola Aina stats vs Brentford

The 27-year-old has been a brilliant signing for Forest, costing nothing in the way of a transfer fee from Torino in 2023.

Aina has been a mainstay in the team since he checked in, playing as a left-back or a right-back during his time at the club.

Forest are in talks with Aina over a new contract and that is something that needs sorting as a matter or urgency.

The Reds can’t become the sort of club that lets top players leave for free at the end of their contract, especially good ones like Aina.
