Nottingham Forest have a real ace in their pack when it comes to Murillo and the recruitment team must be very smug about the Brazilian.
Manchester City considered Murillo before Forest were the club to part with £10.6 million to bring him to the City Ground.
It can be counted on one hand how many games Murillo has missed since he made his debut for Forest during a 1-1 draw against Brentford in October 2023.
Ian Wright loves Murillo, praising the Forest centre-back on a number of occasions since he signed for the club from Corinthians.
Forest do have a bit of a job on their hands to keep hold of a player who has to be considered as one of the best young defenders currently playing in Europe.
However, steps now look set to be made to try and appease Murillo and ensure that if he does leave he goes for a seriously big transfer fee.

Nottingham Forest work to give Murillo contract extension
This feels like big news that is emerging just hours after Murillo produced a brilliant performance against Wolves.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany believes that Forest are pushing to get player tied down to a longer contract.
He posted on X: “Forest now pushing to extend the contract of Murillo beyond 2028.
“Talks have started and proceeding well.
“22-year-old central defender with a top season. Key player for the club.
“No release clause planned.”
Murillo is a left-sided player and that in itself makes him a real asset to the Forest squad.
Although big clubs have been sniffing around him, it’s quite clear that the Reds don’t want to lose the player.
Murillo stats at Forest 2024/25
It’s been another fruitful season for the Brazilian defender and he’s grown as a player alongside Nikola Milenkovic.
The two complement each other nicely and bring a composed nature to the Reds when it comes to the art of defending.
| Murillo stats 2024/25 | Total |
| Appearances | 19 |
| Tackles | 28 |
| Clearances | 117 |
| Blocks | 29 |
| Interceptions | 16 |
| Accurate long balls | 54 |
Murillo, 22, is going to be some player in the future and right now, Forest does feel like the best club for his development.
It’s a shame that there isn’t going to be a release clause in the new contract but it’s easy to see why Murillo’s representatives aren’t keen on that.
Hopefully, something can be struck in the coming weeks and if Forest qualify for Europe, it might be far easier to keep hold of Murillo in the summer.
