Nuno Espirito Santo handed ‘massive boost’ as injury news emerges out of Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest News have exclusively received an injury update on Reds star Ibrahim Sangare.

The Reds defensive midfield hasn’t played since a 1-1 draw with Wolves back in August after picking up a hamstring problem.

Sangare had begun the season in pretty fine form and started to look like a player who had cost the club £30 million when he joined from PSV.

Sangare is popular behind the scenes at Forest and the hope will be that he can get back in action pretty quickly in 2025.

Nottingham Forest handed massive boost over Ibrahim Sangare

Graeme Bailey has exclusively revealed to Nottingham Forest News that the Ivorian midfielder is very much on the mend and could return very soon.

He told us: “Sangare is not far off, I’m told. That’s a massive boost for Nottingham Forest.”

Sangare has struggled a little bit to establish himself at Forest since moving from PSV for big money shortly after Brennan Johnson had joined Tottenham.

Steve Cooper didn’t help Sangare, deploying him out of position, to begin with to try and help him settle at the club.

Last season he contracted malaria and that saw him lose a lot of his physical strength and miss out on the final weeks of the campaign.

Back in August, he looked fitter, stronger and much more comfortable playing as the number six in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

After four games of 2024/25, Sangare stood out in front when it came to the most tackles in the entire Premier League and his injury came at just the wrong time.

Nottingham Forest want Douglas Luiz

This news about Sangare is intriguing as it comes on the back of Forest being linked with Douglas Luiz.

A defensive midfielder himself, Espirito Santo is clearly looking to add a different sort of midfielder to his ranks this month.

Luiz coming in might stifle the chances of game time for Sangare and perhaps that might lead to a fitness-boosting loan move.

With the Reds third in the Premier League it looks like being an exciting few months and it will be interesting to see whether the club sticks with Sangare or twists to sign Luiz in the window.
