A big update has emerged on the fitness of Nottingham Forest star Danilo this afternoon.

The midfielder has been out of action since the opening game of the season when he broke his ankle after just 10 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.

Danilo had been expected to have a quality season during 2024/25 and performed extremely well under Nuno Espirito Santo last season.

The talented Brazilian was spotted with the team at Wolves on Monday night but he didn’t make the matchday squad on that occasion.

Recently, Danilo teased his return on Instagram and now it looks as though things could be looking very good behind the scenes.

John Percy delivers update on Danilo

It looks as though Espirito Santo has decided that the time is right to unleash Danilo and the player looks set to get some game time against Luton on Saturday.

John Percy, a very reputable journalist when it comes to covering Forest, has confirmed the exciting update this afternoon and fans will hope to see Danilo at the weekend.

He posted: #nffc midfielder Danilo is set to make his return against Luton in the FA Cup this weekend. Brazilian has not played since breaking his ankle on the opening day v Bournemouth. Will be included in the squad on Sat. A hugely popular member of the team and another boost for Forest.

Danilo will be itching to get back involved and his presence will add even more competition for places in a squad that is now brimming with quality.

Those fans who were hoping to see Danilo back on the pitch from the off should temper their expectations.

Danilo will be involved this weekend but Espirito Santo is going to be selective about his game time as he recovers from a serious injury.

He told his press conference: “He’s going to be involved in the squad but he’s not going to start the game, we are delighted to have him back.”

Danilo was a £16 million signing from Palmeiras in January 2023 and from the off he’s been a very useful player for Forest.

At times, this season he’s been a miss in midfield and he does offer something that perhaps other midfielders don’t bring to the table.

Danilo has popped up with important goals for Forest in the past and now he will hope to get back on the pitch and lead the team into Europe next season.
