£10m Nottingham Forest player who hasn’t had a kick under Nuno has interest from EFL, La Liga and Serie A

Nottingham Forest did superbly well to streamline their squad during the summer transfer window with over 20 players departing the football club.

Reds boss Nuno Espirito Santo has already stated his intention to work with a smaller squad. As a result, only Manchester City have used fewer players than Forest during the 2024/25 campaign.

Espirito Santo has earned praise from pundits this season. A lot of that is down to the work he’s done on the pitch but fans understand that he’s also brought a lot of positivity with him away from the results side of things too.

The bomb squad as it was so often called has pretty much evaporated into thin air. Forest managed to get rid of most members of that club in the summer and now the doors could be closing once and for all on that unwanted corner of the training ground.

Several clubs eye move for Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, clubs are now keen on signing Dennis from Forest. It’s claimed that several outfits in the EFL and clubs from La Liga and Serie A are eyeing moves to take the versatile forward.

Dennis was signed by Forest from Watford for £10 million. It became clear pretty early on that Steve Cooper wasn’t an advocate for the signing of Dennis and as a result, his game time was restricted.

Signing Dennis did make perfect sense. He scored 10 goals for Watford during the 2021/22 campaign in what was his first spent playing Premier League football.

Dennis scored just twice and claimed three assists from 25 appearances for the Reds. He’s also spent time out on loan with Basaksehir and back at Watford during his time at Forest.

Forest must get rid of Dennis however possible

With just 18 months remaining on his current contract, it might now prove easier to offload Dennis from Forest’s perspective and hopefully, some of this interest can prove concrete.

It’s hard not to feel some sympathy with Dennis to a certain extent. Cooper perhaps should have used him a bit more during the first season in the Premier League and he was nowhere near as bad as some made out.

Like many players that season, Dennis just hasn’t worked out. He was often played out of position and losing most weeks seemed to have an impact on his confidence when he did get chances to play.

Whether it’s on loan or permanently, Forest have to do whatever it takes to get rid of Dennis this month. Only then, can the club truly bid a fond farewell once and for all to the concept of the bomb squad.
