Evangelos Marinakis is personally pushing for major in-house agreement at Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are starting to get linked with a few more players as the month of January progresses.

It does appear, however, as though the club might do more outgoing business this month, prioritising departures over any players who might be coming into the club.

Taiwo Awoniyi is the latest player to be linked away from Forest. He’s attracting interest from West Ham and it’s been claimed in some reports that the Reds might consider letting him go.

Forest have made a call on Harry Toffolo. It appears that he might stay at the City Ground to act as a backup to the existing squad that currently sits third in the Premier League.

Evangelos Marinakis taking the lead on one January situation

Murillo has been offered a new contract by Forest . The news came out of the blue a little bit given that he still has a few years to run on his current deal and other players are perhaps more of a priority.

Now, The Telegraph claims that Marinakis is taking the lead when it comes to Murillo. He’s desperate to get his defender tied down to a new contract in an attempt to reward him for his fine performance.

Murillo almost signed for Manchester City before Forest came calling. He’s been virtually ever-present in the Premier League since joining the club from Corinthians and is growing with every game.

Liverpool are interested in signing Murillo, reportedly. That doesn’t come as a surprise given that the defender made a staggering 17 clearances against the Anfield giants on Tuesday night.

Champions League might tempt Murillo into Forest stay

Fans shouldn’t be fooled by a new contract for Murillo. The extension will preserve his valuation but it will also see him renumerated with a contract that Forest think he deserves.

Other top players might decide to push for an extension with the way this season is going. The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga might start pushing for improved terms too.

Murillo might just stay at Forest if Champions League football is secured, however. He knows that he would play regularly at the City Ground and at this stage of his career that is very important.

Hopefully, with Marinakis taking the lead this one can be done very quickly. Murillo is vitaly important to the Forest squad and ultimately it’s important that the club look after the star players.
