Nottingham Forest beat Southampton 3-2 on Sunday afternoon to make it four points from a very successful week on home soil.
In truth, the game should have been far more comfortable than it was. Forest led 3-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Elliot Anderson, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chris Wood.
Goals from Jan Benarek and Paul Onuachu made things very nervy though and in the closing stages, Ola Aina cleared one off the line to ensure a big three points for Forest.
Anderson was praised by Anthony Gordon after this game. He bagged his maiden goal in the Premier League and the joy was etched all over his face after his long-range effort left Aaron Ramsdale stranded.

What Forest players have been telling Elliot Anderson
Alan Shearer has been impressed with Anderson since he signed for Forest. Newcastle were forced to let the player leave in the summer to meet PSR criteria, with Forest taking advantage.
Anderson needed time to settle at Forest but right now, he’s playing brilliantly. The midfielder has held down a place in the midfield engine room and the shirt now looks like his to lose.
The tricky performer uses the ball well and is often the instigator when it comes to getting Forest moving in the right direction and turning attack into defence.
After his maiden goal for Forest, he shared that it’s been a long time coming and also suggested that his teammates have been itching for him to get more shots off this season.
He told BBC Sport: “I’ve been working hard for that, the lads have been telling me to shoot more in training and matches, so yes just thought I would just bang it and thankfully it went in.”
Elliot Anderson stats vs Southampton
Forest must be very smug with their purchase of Anderson in the summer. He’s taken to regular football really well and at 22-years-old he has a very bright future ahead of him.
His goal yesterday appeared speculative from the stands. However, the replays showed that he saw the gap in the bottom corner and picked it out exceptionally well.

Anderson has already pledged his allegiances to England. He’s made appearances for the under-21s and with the next internationals in March, he might fancy earning a call-up for the senior squad.
Forest have shown a more meticulous approach to transfers in recent windows. Anderson is evidence that good players can be signed and given the amount of potential he has, the midfield looks like one of the signings of the season.
