Nottingham Forest were electric in their 7-0 victory over Brighton, with Anthony Elanga in particular showing his talents.
Forest’s 7-0 win over Brighton would’ve been extra special for Nuno Espirito Santo as it eclipsed the scoreline in Forest’s loss to Bournemouth.
It couldn’t have been a more contrasting performance than the Bournemouth loss, shown clearly by Murillo, who was praised by Joe Cole for his performance.
Espirito Santo was frustrated by Murillo against Bournemouth but he and his Forest teammates bounced back perfectly, with Swedish winger Elanga at the heart of all things positive at the City Ground.
Assisting two of Chris Wood’s goals as well as Morgan Gibbs-White’s header, Elanga was on fire against Brighton, which was crucial given Callum Hudson-Odoi’s injury.
The former Manchester United man has been a hit at Forest since he signed for the club, much to the annoyance of United fans who took to social media to voice their thoughts on his exceptional display.

Manchester United fans enraged by incredible Anthony Elanga show
A hat-trick of assists is rare to come by in football so Elanga’s display was crucial to the Forest squad’s perfect display against Brighton.
Such performances have been a rare sight at Old Trafford, though, making Elanga’s showing particularly frustrating for United fans.
One United fan said: “Can’t get over how we let Anthony Elanga leave.” While another said: “We need someone on the right wing as talented as Anthony Elanga.”
Another United fan said: “I look at Elanga and then I look at Rashford… We clearly made a bad mistake,” with a different fan adding: “We never gave Elanga a real chance to develop.”
More United fans vented about Elanga, with one saying: “How united could do with a player like Elanga now.” While another added: “Elanga. Wow. Outrageous performance. Man United look moronic.”
Anthony Elanga’s brilliant Nottingham Forest display in numbers
| Statistic | Elanga vs Brighton |
| Assists | 3 |
| Successful dribbles | 2 |
| Passes into final third | 6 |
| Recoveries | 3 |
| Accurate crosses | 2 |
The Brighton defence couldn’t handle Elanga in the game, but his three assists were just the tip of his exceptional display.
He completed six passes into the final third to create using Wood and Gibbs-White in the middle, while his two successful dribbles helped Forest drive forwards throughout.
His accurate crosses were on display in Wood’s first goal but he never forgot his defensive responsibilities either, producing three defensive recoveries to help Matz Sels keep his clean sheet.
Espirito Santo has been frustrated by Elanga in the past, but performances like these show just how hard he’s worked to improve his game, to the detriment of his former club United who must be rueing letting the winger leave.
