Nottingham Forest have a host of players out on loan but the pick of the bunch right now is arguably young Northern Irish performer Dale Taylor.

The versatile forward has been largely brilliant whenever he’s been out on loan having previously spent time with Burton Albion and Wycombe before signing for Wigan in the summer.

Forest have high hopes for Taylor and he has made a first-team outing during the team’s promotion season of 2021/22 when he also helped the under-18s reach the FA Youth Cup Final.

Last week, Taylor was praised for his performance against Crawley. He was hailed for his efforts in the EFL clash and was in the thick of the action, hitting the post twice during the contest.

Shaun Maloney has praised Taylor this season and he’s now giving him regular football which frankly is all Forest asks for when they loan young players out to EFL clubs.

Local media react to performance of Dale Taylor as Wigan beat Huddersfield

This was a huge victory for Wigan at the DW Stadium as the Latics beat promotion-chasing Huddersfield, with Taylor getting himself among the goals once again.

The 19-year-old opened the scoring after just 15 minutes of the contest. He scored after some neat team play and that proved the catalyst for Wigan to win 2-1 and right now they sit comfortably in mid-table.

Wigan Today gave Taylor a rating of 8/10: “Showed textbook composure to open the scoring and led the line strongly all night.”

Taylor has been in red-hot form at Wigan. Although Forest do value him highly, it does feel like the youngster might well be a target for a number of EFL outfits this summer.

Remarkable Dale Taylor statistic emerges after latest Wigan goal

Taylor has been doing extremely well at Wigan and with eight goals and seven assists he’s now contributed to 15 goals during his latest spell out on loan, this time in League One.

Wigan have only actually scored 30 goals all season and given that Taylor has aided with 15 of those it highlights just how simply brilliant he has been for the Latics.

Taylor has helped with half of Wigan’s goals and it’s not clear what the future holds at the moment for the versatile forward who can play in a number of positions.

With Forest going to be in the Premier League next season, Taylor is once again unlikely to get a chance with the Reds and surely a spell in the Championship beckons for the 2025/26 campaign.
