Clinton Morrison shares exactly what he’s going to do if Murillo ever scores from long range for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest worked hard to beat Ipswich Town in the FA Cup, with Brighton now waiting for the Reds in the quarter-final of the competition.

George Hirst put the Tractor Boys in front after half-time, heading home following some loose marking at a set-piece from a Forest perspective.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men soon roared back though. A pin-point Anthony Elanga cross found Ryan Yates who couldn’t really miss from about six yards out.

After that it was all Forest in truth. It was a rare game that saw the Reds have the majority of the ball and play with a desire to go forward and nick the winning goal.

It didn’t come though and it was left to Matz Sels to be the hero as he saved Jack Taylor’s spot-kick to send Forest through 5-4 on penalties.

Espirito Santo clearly enjoyed the win and now the Reds face the Seagulls looking to reach the semi-final of the FA Cup for the first time since 1991.

Nottingham Forest star stuns BBC pundit during win over Ipswich

Lucy Ward was impressed with Murillo last night as he took his place in the starting eleven for the first time during an FA Cup clash this season.

Murillo was up to his usual tricks during the win over Ipswich. Had the penalty shootout gone to sudden death, he might have been next up for a spot-kick too.

The 22-year-old seemed hell bent on scoring last night. He had a couple of efforts from range – as usual – and it would appear that he’s getting closer to bagging his first long-range goal for Forest.

Clinton Morrison loves to see him trying these things and has now suggested what he might do if one does take the net off.

He said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “If I’m doing commentary and Murillo scores one of those, I think I’ll have to run down and celebrate with him.”

Murillo shows why top clubs want him with classy display

Murillo signed a new contract with Forest in January. However, that’s not likely to prevent big clubs from making bids this summer.

Manchester City wanted Murillo before he signed for Forest. That alone suggests that he’s got a growing reputation and his form for two seasons at the Reds will only enhance that.

It promises to be an exciting career for Murillo. It’s not clear at this stage where he will eventually end up, but it’s crystal clear on the basis that he’s still at Forest, that Evangelos Marinakis won’t be selling on the cheap.

This performance last night was a strong one by Murillo. At times, it felt like he was defending all by himself and when he carries the ball out from the back, he really is a joy to watch.
