Nottingham Forest edged through in the FA Cup against Ipswich Town last night with the Reds winning a penalty shootout to reach the quarter-final.

Nuno Espirito Santo has led the revival at Forest this season. The team are third in the Premier League and are now in the last eight of the world’s oldest cup competition.

Espirito Santo hailed Ola Aina after the game last night. He was one of a few really strong performers against Ipswich and the Forest head coach will have been pleased to progress.

The Reds now face Brighton in the last eight of the competition. It provides Forest with a one-off game to get back to Wembley and reach the semis for the first time since 1991.

Anthony Elanga did something remarkable vs Ipswich

The performance of Elanga was one that drew some intrigue. On one hand, he created the goal that got Forest back into the game, but often playing down the left, he was frustrating at times.

BBC Sport showcased that perhaps he was better than some fans anticipated. They claimed that Elanga made 20 crosses into the penalty area last night – a number that no other Premier League player has managed this season.

It’s quite a remarkable stat given that Elanga isn’t necessarily known for his crossing per se. He does now have nine assists this season and clearly his creativity is a very useful asset to the squad.

Elanga will hope to continue this level of form and with the likes of Chris Wood in the penalty area, there is a genuine chance of him reaching 15 assists this season.

At 22-years-old, it’s very exciting to see where Elanga can go with his career. The Reds only paid £15 million and if he was to be sold any time soon he’d make the club a fortune.

Forest added Elanga from Manchester United and had he stayed at Old Trafford there is a real argument that he’d be playing given the struggles of the Red Devils lately.

Elanga is far more effective on the right-hand side. Last night, his assist came when he was on that side of the pitch and Espirito Santo has to stop messing with that aspect.

There is more to come from the youngster this season and when he’s in full flight, Elanga believes he is the fastest player in the Premier League.
