Morgan Gibbs-White is once again an England international following his Nottingham Forest exploits.
However, he very nearly wasn’t.
Sitting at home and sulking isn’t really his thing but originally, Gibbs-White was due to watch his England teammates from the comfort of his sofa, overlooked by Thomas Tuchel despite his Forest exploits.
Forest fans were incensed that Gibbs-White had missed out. Forest have been third since December 29th and frankly, it made a mockery that not a single Reds player had made the cut.
Danny Murphy praised Gibbs-White on Match of the Day after the 25-year-old helped Forest to a 4-2 win over Ipswich on Saturday.
Common sense has now prevailed and Gibbs-White has now been quizzed after a whirlwind few days.

Thomas Tuchel breaks silence on real reason why Morgan Gibbs-White wasn’t picked
Gibbs-White has lifted the lid on what the new England head coach said to him before his squad was announced last week.
The Forest man told TalkSPORT: “I got the call on Thursday and this is what I really like about this manager, he was very open and honest, he called me and said I’m not choosing you, based on his own decision, he said I didn’t do anything wrong, he’s the manager so I respected his decision.
“Then Sunday late afternoon, he texted me saying are you around for a chat and I replied so fast saying yes.
“He said are you still upset or do you want to come and join us in training tomorrow, and obviously I said I wanted to come and train, so to get the call was incredible and I’m so happy to be here right now.”
Morgan Gibbs-White stats 2024/25
It would have been a real travesty had Gibbs-White not made the England squad this time around.
As fans, we had a point to suggest that the reason Gibbs-White wasn’t in the squad in the first place is because some outsiders are still ignorant of the season that Forest are having.
| Morgan Gibbs-White stats 2024/25 | Total |
| Appearances | 25 |
| Goals | 5 |
| Assists | 7 |
| Key Passes | 41 |
| Who Scored Rating | 7.08 |
Thankfully, Tuchel has seen sense and after the injury to Cole Palmer ruled him out, he’s given the Forest man a deserved call.
Gibbs-White clearly values playing for England and hopefully, he can get himself out on the pitch and make a mockery of Tuchel’s decision to overlook him in the first place.
