Chris Wood says Nottingham Forest have two future stars who fans haven’t even seen yet

Nottingham Forest enjoyed an exceptional summer transfer window and are now reaping the rewards.

In comparison to windows of old, things were far less chaotic at the City Ground.

Forest added just 11 new players with two of those – David Carmo and Marko Stamenic – heading straight to Olympiacos on season-long loan deals.

The likes of Nikola Milenkovic, Elliot Anderson and Morato were added and all three have proved to be value for money.

Forest are now third in the Premier League and the Champions League anthem can be faintly heard in the background on the banks of the River Trent.

Forest had a quiet January window but did manage to get a deal done for some younger talent and Chris Wood thinks he might be someone to call upon in the future.

Chris Wood delivers verdict On Marko Stamenic and Tyler Bindon

The 18-goal star has been flying in the Garibaldi this season and is closing in on a number of milestones.

Wood is close to 100 Premier League goals, whilst he’d surely love to score 20 goals in a top-flight campaign for the first time during his career.

The Forest striker is the main man when it comes to playing football in New Zealand and he’s hoping to link up with Bindon and Stamenic next season.

He told Stuff on YouTube: “It’d be fantastic if that was the case and they could be out on the pitch with me next season. They’re both very good players, they’ve proven that for their clubs and they’ve proven that for the national team as well.

“The next stage is proving that at Forest as well and showing they’re capable of doing it. I believe that they’re definitely capable of doing it but it’s down to them to put their best foot forward and show that they’re ready for it. Whether that happens, who knows, I think they’re capable of handing themselves in the Premier League.

“The club looked at them both based on their own merits. They were both on the radar. They’re both very good, Marko has shown over the years that he’s a fantastic midfielder, works hard, scores goals and he’s very much a box-to-box number eight, he’s got the right capabilities for the Premier League in my opinion.

“Tyler is another one. He’s starting off his career, he’s done really well at Reading this year, he’s got that calmness about him on the ball and he’s turned a lot of heads over in the UK and we’re lucky to have him at Forest.”

The 33-year-old penned a new two-year contract with Forest in the January window and Wood is here to stay for another couple of years.

Wood is keen to get back to New Zealand when his time in Europe comes to an end but he’d surely love to taste the Champions League with Forest first.

It’s been quite remarkable to see Wood grow at Forest.

Supporters turned their noses up at the arrival when he swapped Newcastle for Forest in a deal worth £15 million during the January transfer window in 2023.

Now, he’s on the coattails of Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah in the quest for the Golden Boot and that would be yet another brilliant achievement for a player who is doing so much for football in New Zealand.
