When all is said and done, after 38 games this season, this might prove to be the pivotal moment for Nottingham Forest.

Forest were beaten 1-0 by Everton with Abdoulaye Doucoure scoring the winner in the 94th minute of the game after an error from Murillo.

In truth, it was no more than Everton deserved.

David Moyes did a number on the Reds at the City Ground, with the Toffees looking a completely different team to the one which Forest blew away in December.

It was a poor afternoon for Forest – and for Murillo – with Nuno Espirito Santo now in need of a reaction next time out at Tottenham.

Nuno Espirito Santo makes claim about Murillo after Everton defeat

The Toffees richly deserved their win on Trentside, with Moyes getting his game plan off to perfection.

Forest have to move on quickly and now isn’t really the time to be pointing the finger of blame.

After this one, Espirito Santo had some words for Murillo and after this one, he made a claim about the Brazilian central defender.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “It was not normal (from Murillo). The decision-making was definitely not the best.

“It’s not about the players, it’s about us as a team. When someone makes a mistake, we always have someone to try and correct it and help. It didn’t work out today.”

The defender has bailed Forest out on more occasions than one cares to remember in the past but this goal was on him.

Had Everton won the game courtesy of a well-taken goal in a minute that wasn’t stoppage time, it might have been easier to take.

However, this was a real sickening one for the Reds, and ultimately, Murillo would have to bounce back quickly from the error of his ways.

Forest have six games to go now and ultimately, it’s important the team doesn’t fall away with the finishing line now coming into view.
