Nottingham Forest will likely drop down to fourth place in the Premier League tonight, with Newcastle playing their game in hand against Crystal Palace.
For Forest, it’s a chance to take stock of things following two successive defeats to Aston Villa and Everton, with Nuno Espirito Santo realising there is still lots to play for.
The Reds have six more games to play this season. Three of those come at the City Ground against Brentford, Leicester and Chelsea, with Tottenham, Crystal Palace and West Ham to face on their travels.
European football is getting tantalisingly close for Forest. However, it would be superb if a place in the Champions League could be obtained, having held a lofty league position all year.
With Tottenham to come next, there’s been a report that suggests a change might be made in the dugout ahead of Forest’s visit on Monday night.

Ange Postecoglou have been given ultimatum ahead of Nottingham Forest game
It’s doing the rounds on social media that Tottenham simply have to win on Thursday night against Eintracht Frankfurt, otherwise Postecoglou is out.
Spurs can’t mathematically finish above Forest this season, and it’s been a truly miserable campaign for the white half of North London under the Australian boss.
It’s been claimed by Tottenham Talk on X that Postecoglou will have to progress in the Europa League to save his job and Forest might now be hoping for Spurs to progress.
Forest were well worth their 1-0 win over Tottenham on Boxing Day and Postecoglou’s style of play could work in the Reds’ favour if all goes according to plan.
Tottenham will likely be a tougher nut to crack on home soil but the last thing Forest could do with going into this game is a new manager bounce threatening to further set the Reds back in the race for a Champions League place.
Postecoglou sacking could be detrimental to Forest
It’s quite clear that the Tottenham players haven’t really been playing for the Australian boss this season.
Okay, he’s had some rotten injuries to contend with in his squad, but for Tottenham to be in such a lowly position in the table at this stage of the season is unheard of.
Postecoglou will likely get the season if he sees things through on Thursday night but it does feel as though the writing will be on the wall for next season.
Forest simply have to focus on their own game plan and see Tottenham as a place where all three points are well within their grasp on Monday night.
