Nottingham Forest faced Tottenham on Monday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, looking to get three points after two consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

The Reds started the game well and raced into a 2-0 lead in North London. Elliot Anderson got his second goal for Forest with a long-range effort, before Chris Wood weighed in with a 19th of the season after earlier seeing one disallowed.

It was a positive 45 minutes for the Reds against Tottenham, with the hosts clearly having one eye on their upcoming Europa League semi-final and Ange Postecoglou clinging to his job.

Before the game, the talk was largely centred around Tottenham and how bad they’ve been this season, but there was time for some praise on the work done by Nuno Espirito Santo this season.

Jamie Carragher raves about Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

Talk turned towards who should get the Forest award for Player of the Season when the campaign draws to a close on Sky Sports.

It will prove tricky with Forest having a number of quality players with a number of those playing at the very top of their level to put Forest into their lofty position.

Carragher is under no illusions who should be named Player of the Year, however, raving about the influence of Gibbs-White who has enjoyed another sparkling campaign.

He told Sky Sports: “You get asked a lot about Nottingham Forest this season and who’s been the standout and it’s very difficult to choose because there have been a lot of good performers.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Gibbs-White, the thing I like about him, and we’ve seen the number he’s got the number 10, but what’s special about him is he’s got great pace and that’s what he gives Forest that a lot of teams don’t have.”

Morgan Gibbs-White will be the subject of vast summer interest

The Reds’ vice-captain is already being linked with lots of top clubs, with Manchester City said to be the frontrunners to sign Gibbs-White when the window reopens.

However, he’s now got five Premier League games to ensure he leaves Forest as a club that has qualified for the Champions League and achieved something quite simply miraculous.

The number 10 deserves every accolade that comes his way and at some point in his career, he will undoubtedly play at the very top level.

There are still imperfections with Gibbs-White and his game and with that in mind, perhaps another season at Forest playing European football will be something that the club tries to convince him to do.
