Dougie Freedman was appointed Nottingham Forest manager in February 2015 following the sacking of Stuart Pearce.

Pearce’s side were on a run of six defeats in seven, so the board made the decision to bring in Dougie Freedman following his two-year spell at Bolton Wanderers.

Nottingham Forest, who were the early pace-setters, were 12th at the time and still had an outside chance of making the play-offs.

Freedman went on a run of seven wins in his first 10 games and was backed with the arrival of a highly-rated loan signing a month into his tenure.

Although, it turned out to be a dreadful transfer and he’s now playing in the second tier of South Korea, aged 32.

Nottingham Forest flop Modou Barrow now playing in second tier of South Korea

Freedman’s first Nottingham Forest signing was Modou Barrow, who joined on a loan deal from Swansea City.

“For my first signing, although it’s only a loan, it’s one I really wanted to do,” Freedman told Forest’s website in March 2015.

“I had him at Bolton for ten days on trial and we tried to sign him. It was no surprise to me that a few months later Swansea snapped him up for considerably more money.

“So when I had the opportunity to sign him a few days ago, I was all over it. There was competition from three other clubs and we had to make sure we showed him what the club’s about, what kind of team we’ve got and how he can express himself coming down into the Championship.”

Barrow arrived with big expectations, but his short spell at Forest was extremely underwhelming, as he made just four appearances, laying on a solitary assist before being recalled by Swansea.

Now, after plying his trade across Turkey and Saudi Arabia in recent years, the Forest flop finds himself in the second tier of South Korea with Incheon United.

Barrow yet to get off the mark

Barrow started the season in Saudi’s second division with Abha Club, registering four goal involvements in 12 games.

But, after just five months with Abha, they moved him on to Incheon United, where he is yet to get off the mark in eight outings.

Quite clearly, it wasn’t Freedman’s finest recruit, but the former Forest manager has gone on to enjoy great success as Crystal Palace’s Sporting Director, signing the likes of Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton.

His impressive stint at Palace has seen him linked with Newcastle United, however, there are now suggestions he could seal a big-money contract working in the Saudi Pro League.
