Nottingham Forest are going to be trying to sign some new players during the summer transfer window but perhaps the big challenge will be keeping hold of the club’s current top stars.

The Reds need to make sure they have a bigger squad next season, with the club very likely to be competing on four fronts in 2025/26, with European football almost confirmed.

Forest have a number of top stars who could fetch hefty sums in the transfer market, with Morgan Gibbs-White linked with Manchester City and Murillo being linked with most top clubs in Europe.

Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi will likely have some interest too when the window reopens this summer. The pair have been brilliant on the flanks for Forest and there will be no shortage of suitors.

How Callum Hudson-Odoi feels about leaving Nottingham Forest

Some information has come to light on the future of Hudson-Odoi and it would appear as though clubs are preparing to make a move during the summer transfer window.

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports has now delivered an update on the future of the Forest winger, with several clubs preparing to start circling for his signature during the summer.

Hudson-Odoi will have a year to run on his current contract in the summer and he will be hoping to get his future sorted out once the window reopens ahead of the next campaign.

Sheth said on social media: “Roma, Napoli and 2 PL clubs in interested in Nottingham Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi. Contract up next summer. Forest held initial talks over a new deal. Hudson-Odoi focused on the remainder of the season and will assess options in the summer.”

The claims that he will assess the options in the summer do suggest how he’s feeling, with Hudson-Odoi likely keen to focus on finishing the season as strongly as possible and helping the team into the Champions League.

Given that he has a year to run on his deal, it’s likely that he’s relaxed about the whole situation and if Forest secure Champions League football perhaps he will be more than happy to pen a new contract.

It would be a blow for Forest to lose Hudson-Odoi, given that he’s one player in the Reds’ squad who does boast European experience ahead of a campaign in one of those competitions next season.

Hudson-Odoi is brilliant for the way in which Forest like to play counter-attacking football and his work defensively goes under the radar too, with the player always keen to get back and help out without the ball.

This could simply be a case of his agency trying to put pressure on Hudson-Odoi’s representatives to get him to sign a new contract ahead of the summer of 2026, with his deal to expire then.

Forest will want to keep as many top players as possible for next season in what could be a truly memorable campaign for the club, and with that in mind, discussions will surely start soon with Hudson-Odoi.
